A simple screening assessment (Beery VMI 3-part assessment) could help you understand methods to support a child learn differently and activities that you could incorporate into your lessons to address underlying visual perceptual deficits. This three part assessment screens a child motor coordination, visual motor integration and visual perception – allowing a therapist to determine strengths and difficulties requires intervention.

In some children we need to conduct a more detailed visual perceptual skills assessment in order to identify the exact nature of their difficulty.

The Test of Visual Perception (TVPS-3) is a comprehensive assessment of visual perception, memory and spatial awareness. It is a motor free test which enables the therapist to look specifically at visual responses, visual attention and visual scanning.
